Viva Cruises christens second new-build ship

Viva Cruises, Viva Two

Viva Cruises has christened its new flagship, Viva Two, at a ceremony in Düsseldorf.

The ship is the line’s second new vessel in the last year and a sister to Viva One.

Viva Two will mainly sail on the Danube, on five-day short trips or seven-night river cruises from Passau or Vienna. The programme will also include a grand 16-day voyage to the Danube Delta.

For the start of the 2024 season, Viva Two will return to Düsseldorf for January, February and March sailings of four-night city trips to the Netherlands and Belgium.

The operator’s COO Andrea Kruse also announced at the ceremony that Viva Three will launch in September 2024.

‘Important milestone’ for Viva Cruises

Speaking at the event, Viva Cruises MD Arno Reitsma and Kruse said: “This important milestone for Viva Cruises comes just in time for our fifth anniversary.

“We are so proud of Viva Two. From the cutting edge design to the technical innovations, this ship meets all of our standards.”

Viva Two features 95 cabins and three restaurants. The Bistro offers a “casual atmosphere and a wide selection of snacks and smaller dishes”, the line said, while Riverside is the main restaurant.

In addition, Moments is described as “the place to go for top-class specialty food, accompanied with light entertainment”.

From a sustainability angle, the 190-guest ship features a new exhaust system that includes a catalytic converter and particle filter.

Back in December 2022, Kruse said: “With our second new-build ship, we are once again focusing on sustainable construction and on moving forward with a heavy focus on the environment and the current times.”
